Oya is a performance artist, based in the field of consciousness, currently (un)working through constructs of reality by means of conceptual, installation and sound art. Charged by a tireless, perpetual linking of encounters with phenomena, in whatever form they may present themselves, preceding and proceeding each performance, Oya attempts to weave a living ontology of the moment, strung out on the nebulous arcana of existence. They find the ‘medium’ of performance art as a grounds for channeling and catalyzing invisible forces, catharsis and perceptual shifts between artist and audience; a medium inherently bent to the whims of a mysterious order that both never and always seems to be unveiling itself.
Founder of The Ear (est 2016), a performance arts venue / gallery / community based in brooklyn, formed in collaboration with peers interested in bridging the world of performance and experimental art in all its mediums.
